One of the best ways you can do this is to follow the regulations of the National Parks – even though the coast around Dahab is not part of a park, these are common sense rules. Do the right thing! – people have the ability to make history and create positive change.
Egypt established the first National Park in 1983 at Ras Mohammed in order to protect both the marine and land environments.
The two National Parks that border Dahab – Nabq to the south, and Ras Abu Galum to the north – were designated in 1992.
The fourth National Park around the Dahab area is the St Katherine Protectorate formed in 1996 covering the spectacular scenery around St Katherine’s Monastery and Mount Sinai.
Upkeep of these special areas is funded through visitor fees so be happy to pay and enjoy the experience!
