Citizen Science Foundation Courses

Be aware of how your actions and decisions impact the reef and ocean ecosystems

Who are they for?

Environmental Courses – Our Citizen Science courses are designed for participants aged 16+ who wish to understand more about our marine environment, their make-up, biodiversity and the man-made pressures and climatic forces placed upon these wonderous ecosystems.

Age limits and restrictions

Since our Citizen Science courses are focussed around the marine environment, there are a considerable number of scuba based activities. To this end, we insist that all students who wish to take Foundation Modules 2 and 3 are at least certified to PADI Open Water Diver level (or equivalent with other agencies).

Content and awards

Each course is carefully crafted and led by Rachel Shelley, PhD, and complements the PADI certifications gained in each course. A certificate of course completion is awarded to each successful candidate.

PADI course awards

We offer PADI Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver courses which are priced separately and the following specialties: PADI Coral Reef Conservation (included in Module 1), Peak Performance Buoyancy (included in Module 2), Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist (optional in Modules 2 and 3) and Dive Against Debris (included in Module
